CLINICAL PROGRESS
In 1999, Sensys Medical initiated its landmark multi-center study with more than 130 adults with diabetes to evaluate the ability of its technology to accurately and precisely determine blood glucose levels. The study concluded in June 2001.

The study was conducted at Radiant Research sites in Phoenix, Arizona; Portland, Oregon; San Diego, California; and Cincinnati, Ohio; as well as the Barbara Davis Center for Childhood Diabetes in Denver, Colorado, and the Diabetes and Glandular Disease Clinic in San Antonio, Texas.

The clinical trial demonstrated that Sensys Medical’s non-invasive blood glucose device effectively measured blood glucose in 90 percent of people with diabetes tested. This multi-center national trial was the largest of its kind to evaluate a non-invasive testing method. The complete findings of this study were presented at the 2001 European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD) 37th Annual Conference in Glasgow, Scotland.

From this clinical study, Sensys Medical was able to develop algorithms that no longer required the calibration of an individual to a particular device to make non-invasive glucose measurements. This breakthrough in calibration development was presented at the 62nd Scientific Sessions of the American Diabetes Association in 2002.

Since the calibration breakthrough, Sensys Medical has focused on size, cost and human factor engineering developments to progress towards an eventual home-use product. Sensys Medical continues to work diligently in its pursuit to help individuals with diabetes to better manage themselves through non-invasive monitoring.

Although Sensys Medical is cognizant of the interest in our developmental progress, our primary focus is to prepare our product for submission to the FDA for approval. As such, our presentations and publications are often limited because of our strong desire to meet the needs of the glucose testing market. Additional information will be added to this section as it become available.
